Bizhan Tong


Bizhan Tong has extensive experience in several industries including banking and financial services, film, start-ups, and philanthropy. Born in London, Bizhan launched an online franchise at the age of 14, studied Mathematics at the University of Manchester at 18, produced a feature film,¬†Fix, at 20, and in 2009 became the youngest MBA student in the UK at 21 where he studied at the University of Liverpool graduating with Distinction. As the founder of Phoenix Waters Wealth Management, Bizhan brings a wealth of investment management expertise as well as strong executive leadership, and this contribution is reflected in his strategy and long-term sustainable success of the business. He previously worked for Barclays where he operated as a relationship manager at Barclays Premier, later advancing to fund management as part of the Multi-Manager team at Barclays Wealth involving equities, impact investing and asset management, and subsequently designed and developed the client experience strategy for Barclays Private Bank. As well as founding Phoenix Waters Wealth Management, Bizhan also heads award-winning production company Phoenix Waters Productions and tech start-up Phoenix Waters Ltd. He is also an avid philanthropist, spearheading gender equality initiatives and sits on the boards of 2 children’s charities in addition to the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong Committee for SMEs and Start-Ups.

Personal Experience

Bizhan’s experience as a relationship manager at Barclays Premier led him to achieving the highest client advocacy score nationally at Barclays. His subsequent transition to Barclays Wealth as part of the Multi-Manager team during which time he oversaw money market instruments and was involved in the analysis of multi-asset classes provided the opportunity to be involved in the creation of an award-winning social impact fund, an area which is he is particularly passionate about. He went on to design and develop a multi-award-winning client experience strategy for Barclays Private Bank, and during this time co-led the gender diversity pillar for Barclays Wealth before co-leading Male Allies as part of the UN’s HeForShe campaign for the Barclays Group in the UK.

Bizhan founded Phoenix Waters Productions in 2015 in order to develop high concept projects for Film & TV for the purpose of enacting positive social change. Their first feature, The Escort, an exploration of society’s role in the treatment of women won several awards across the globe including Best Director in New York, and is currently being adapted for the stage. The company has several projects in development with their next film, Karma, to be released later this year. They have since partnered with Mercury Pictures, a studio in LA, to co-produce specific projects together, and shot the short film Belfast¬†starring John Savage (Do the Right Thing) and Robert Picardo (Star Trek: Voyager) which could be viewed at Cannes in 2019.

A keen entrepreneur, Bizhan launched an online franchise at the age of 14 which he grew over the course of 10 years. More recently he formed Phoenix Waters Ltd. which is developing Yin Meet Yang, a dating platform that creates tailored dating experiences for its members. Having formed a strategic partnership with luxury fashion brand Aftershock London PLC and with teams in London and Hong Kong, the platform is due to launch in late 2020.

Bizhan sits on the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong Committee for SMEs and Start-Ups, representing the interests of British business owners and entrepreneurs in Hong Kong.

In addition to these responsibilities he sits on the boards of 2 UK children’s charities – Variety the Children’s Charity and Career Ready – as well as the local advisory board of a 6th form college in the UK where he chairs a mentoring program, and supports the Hong Kong arm of Variety where a separate mentoring programme was launched in October 2019.

Bizhan now runs Phoenix Waters Wealth Management in partnership with St. James’s Place, enabling him to use his experience and success to support the achievements of others.
